2013 WinterNights Festival Activities*

 Games / Fun Activities:

  • Longboats 101 – kids (family) – learn about, build, and race your own longboat.
  • Get your Nordic Name / learn what your Viking name would have been
  • Your Runes Cast / ‘yur runes cast’ by ‘yur touch’ magic & science as one
  • Kubb / Viking Lawn Chess (tournament if warranted)
  • Hnefatafl / Viking Table Chess (board game)
  • Learn Norwegian / Simon Says, Colors,  & Heads, shoulders, knees, toes (led by Michelle Land)

Music / Dancing:

      • – 11:30 to 12:30 –Norsewind  / Old Norse & Celtic genre of music

Great Nordic Food:

  • Swedish Meatballs / Swedish Pancakes (Crepes)
  • Cucumber Salad / Sliced Nordic Cheese on Limpa Bread
  • Fattigman / Almond Bars(gluten free) / Pepparkar (ginger snaps)
  • Almond Kringle Cake / Pulla Cardamom Braid / Dragon Punch

Schedule:

  • 11:00 – Festival Starts – get your old norse name/vendors/games/etc
  • 11:00 to 5:30 – Seer Oracle – cast your individual runes
  • 11:30 to 12:30 –Norsewind  / Old Norse & Celtic genre of music
  • 12:30 – Unveiling and Dedication 2nd stone “Heimdall’s Aett”
  • 2:00 to 2:20 – Childrens Club Skansen #147 – folk dancers
  • 2:30 to ? – Learn Norwegian – Head, shoulders, knees, toes as well as Simon Says and Colors (kind of like Red Rover come over using colors) great fun for kids, families, and pick up some Norwegian too!
  • Games & Activities – all day

Ceremonies:

  • – 12:30 – Unveiling and Dedication 2nd stone “Heimdall’s Aett”
  • – ? – Winternights Festival Galdr ritual (Danjul/Norsewind)

  • Old Norse Prose describing Odins quest for knowledge
